The Benefits of Attending Industry Events

Regardless of whether you are attempting to draw in new clients, plan on running a crowdfunding effort, or you’re at the stage where you’re searching for financial backers to help your development – putting yourself out there and going to industry occasions can be of immense advantage to you and your group. These days, we have begun to build organizations, fund-raising events, administration systems, and E-commerce websites. However, there is yet something extraordinary about getting together and interfacing with key individuals in your industry eye to eye. My name is Margo Lovett, and I am a podcast entrepreneur. I took up Podcasts as a hobby and continued doing it as a hobby for five years. Unfortunately, I had to take a break for a year because of some personal reasons. I got back to the game a year later in 2016 and hired a Podcast coach and entrepreneur to get back to my true lovemaking – Podcasts. After a year of learning and preparation, at 61, I released a Podcast – “Her Business, Her Vice, Her Conversations” in 2017.  In May this year, I released a YouTube video called #PodFest 2021 Case Study Talk- from hobby to podcast entrepreneur, where I shared the fears and obstacles I faced when I got back to podcasting. It was an in-depth research process where I had to study podcasting and take it from being a hobby to becoming a Podcast entrepreneur. Another complex aspect of returning to podcasting was unlearning and relearning all the knowledge I previously had about Podcasts. I learned that taking this up efficiently would differ greatly from doing it as a hobby. After all the hard work and time, I gained the fruit of my efforts in the form of my website PODCASTACADEMYONLINE.COM. I created the academy to teach people how to create Podcasts. In the past year, I have done Podcasts with people like Susan L. Taylor—Founder and CEO of the National CARES Mentoring Movement, and Walter Tucker III—former Mayor of Compton. Recently, I had the privilege of leading a four-panel discussion for a Women’s organization called WomELLE. I have also created a free workbook for Podcasters called—The Reinvention Manifesto.  I gained essential insights by being a Case Study Speaker at #PodFest 2021, which has played an integral role in my journey to success, and I would love to share some of the wisdom I gained.  To begin with, I want to highlight the importance of SEO for Podcasts. At the #PodFest 2021,  Juergen Berkessel, the Co-founder and Creative Director of a digital strategy service, Polymash, generously made a pretty easy-to-follow guide for SEO available to all. Further, Juergen did a Q&A at the #PodFest 2021 that went on for over an hour, where he addressed the questions everyone in the audience had about SEO and its impact on shows. The Polymash Co-founder also showed the software he uses.  It is imperative to understand that Podcasters are media. Beth Nydick, a certified holistic coach, shared her experience by speaking about deciding what platform will give the maximum following for one’s podcasts. Beth also stated that TV is the place to build credibility and clients. I firmly believe that the key to becoming a successful entrepreneur is to build relationships that will support you in the long run. I have realized that building relationships through zoom chats and collaborations is helpful on one’s road to success. Beyond this key component, media exposure is a great tool to increase the reach of your Podcasts.  Finally, I must emphasize that sitting through all the great masterclasses that I attended to solidify the reality of the industry was definitely worth it. I stand by the fact that the industry conferences were worth all my time and monetary investment. These factors were critical essentials in my path to success, and I want to share my experiences and notes to help other aspiring podcasters in the industry. I strongly recommend attending events in the Podcast industry to gain information and, most importantly, build relationships and networks that will help in the long run to make a successful career.  In a computerized world, having the chance to interact face to face with people from the same industry can be pretty out of the ordinary. Let’s be honest—numerous agreements aren’t made at the workplace—they’re regularly made over supper, at the bar, or a golf course. Thus, face-to-face collaborations shouldn’t be limited. From producing new business to staying in touch with the most recent patterns of your industry, going to advertising occasions, gatherings, and meetings can be integral to the achievement of an organization’s or person’s development technique. Hence, I hope these insights have helped you gain a broader perspective and have motivated you to take the initiative to go out there to network and build relations in your industry.

An Entrepreneurs Guide to The Foundations of Marketing

In today’s day and time, where everybody is moving with their lives at the fastest pace, selling your product or idea can be tricky, having an entrepreneurs marketing guide can be the key. It can be challenging to attract attention from customers who are engrossed in their fast-paced lives. Hence, to reach out to the people of the 21st century, marketing is an essential tool for every entrepreneur. Your idea or product will just be yours if you don’t start sharing it with the world. However, not every entrepreneur is aware of how to go about marketing and where to start. Well, fear no more because I have found someone who was more than delighted to answer all your questions.  Recently I did a podcast with marketing expert Tim Fitzpatrick, the founder and creator of Rialto Marketing. Tim has over 20 years of experience in business development and marketing. He spoke about Business Development and explained how entrepreneurs could build their marketing foundation using three fundamental principles.  My first question to Tim was – “Why should people pay attention to marketing?” He started by defining what marketing is. He said he liked to keep things simple. To him, marketing is getting someone who has a need or a problem that you can solve and for them to know, like, and trust you. Tim believes that the basis of marketing is to warm potential prospects up to what you do and to get them interested enough to buy your product or perform with your company. Tim was of the firm opinion that if you are not focused on marketing for your business, you could have the best product or service in the world, but it will not matter because you will have nobody to sell it to. He said he views marketing as an investment, while many business owners view marketing as an expense.  My next question was about the three fundamental principles necessary to build a marketing foundation for entrepreneurs. He began answering this by quoting Michael Jordan, who said – “Get the fundamentals down, and the level of everything you do will rise.” Tim believes that if you get the marketing fundamentals right, it will be easy for you to build your foundation upon these fundamentals.  Tim likes to call these three fundamentals the Marketing strategy trilogy, and they are: Target Market – You have got to know who your ideal clients are, who you want to work with, who you do the best work with, and the most profitable customers that will refer you. You must know who you are trying to reach because you reach no one if you try to reach everyone. Tim does not recommend having over three different ideal client types, which becomes rather difficult to manage. Instead, he highly recommends interviewing the ideal client type to understand the values you bring to the table and what your customers expect from you. He suggests making a summary of how your clients got to know about you, what they like about you, and what they dislike about you. Tim believes that making this summary sheet will help you understand who your ideal clients are.  Messaging or How you Communicate to your Market – This fundamentally creates clarity and engagement. Tim emphasized that messaging is what is going to make a company memorable and magnetic. He suggests that messaging should focus on what a company or business can do for the customer instead of communicating information about the business. Tim further shared that his company uses a storytelling framework created by a company called ‘Story Brand.‘ He stated that this framework positions your business or company as the guide and the customer as the hero. Tim also spoke about the Marketing Rule of 7 that says that it takes at least seven impressions for your brand or message to resonate with a prospect or customer. Hence, it will not sit well with a customer if you say seven different things seven times.  System/ Plan to fall back on– A plan helps you identify when and what you will execute from a marketing perspective and gives you a framework that you can follow. Tim firmly believes that framework makes a plan easy to implement. He exclaims that without a plan in marketing, it is easy to get distracted. Tim shares how he likes to look at marketing plans as a 90-day sprint. This plan has six steps. The first step involves referring to the summary sheet that you create about your target market. The second step is to create an outcome-based goal that you want to gain in the next 90 days. The third step is to know your budget and understand the resources that you have. The next step is to know what you are currently doing with your marketing plan, which is followed by figuring out what you will do for the next 90 days. The 6th and final step is to understand what metric you will track to signify your business’s traction.  Tim concluded this excellent session by stating that marketing is a Science and that there are no hard and fast rules about what will work for your business. Instead, every person needs to put their business or product out there by following a framework. Some things may work, and some strategies may not, but it’s all about putting your product or business out there. This brilliant conversation gave me some great marketing tips and inputs that I will surely use, and I hope this helps you.  Check out the entire conversation. Tim was also generous enough to put together some resources for our audience that he thinks will help support our conversation.

Podcasts SEO: How to Make Your Podcast Rank – Google is Indexing Your Podcast

With internet marketing scaling new heights every day, new ways of reaching out to customers, existing and potential become innovative. Like video, audio too has emerged as a popular medium and entrepreneurs have stressed on them as direct SEO assets. Among the audio content, podcasts have become particularly effective. While podcasting has grown in popularity as a medium to promote products, expertise, and network, not everyone gets a grip on the matter readily. Google has begun to index podcasts on titles, meta descriptions and spoken words – this making it easier for listeners to enter a word that leads to a podcast of their liking. This indexing gives podcasters greater ability for discovery. Side note – podcasters, sprinkle key words into the script. The opportunity is thus huge but are you ready to see your podcasts rank as yet? While the medium is growing rapidly, it is still not as frequently used as the traditional ones and this is where making a mark in podcasts SEO can make a difference if you know the tricks and apply them well. Here are some ways to make your podcasts rank better: Knowing the trend: Just like with any other advertising campaign, where the host takes note of the trending words/topics, podcasts can also gain more traction if they’re built on the burning keywords. Check the search engine platforms to get effective keywords and make podcasts around them. You can also invite SEO experts and ask them questions about podcasts SEO and improving ranks of the podcasts. The content is still the king: A successful SEO strategy always involves high-quality and engaging content supported by technicalities and podcasts SEO is no different. Traditional content strategies include blog posts, articles, videos etc. while the potential of the podcasts remains overlooked by many. But even though there is no visual, yet you can make a great use of podcasts to drive in direct traffic while promoting your site and its offerings. Bring in experts to speak on podcasts, if possible, in short but continuous episodes so that they remain interesting and engaging. A good work in this pattern will invariably push your podcast ranking up. The title wins half the battle: Just like the title of a book or the headline of a story marks the first impression about what’s coming, the issue is the same with podcasts as well. For your podcast to find a place on iTunes or Google Play, you need to produce a productive title. The ranking algorithms actually attach much significance to the title of podcasts besides other factors like the number of people subscribing to it or the extent to which it got a positive review. By a productive title, we mean it should not just include technicalities like the most important keywords, so that it finds itself in tune with the algorithm but also something that’s found to be attractive. You can even add a subtitle to make your podcast more attractive to the listeners. The spelling and grammar need to be impeccable and the language should be clean to understand for all. Optimize the RSS feed: By optimizing the RSS feed, you can see your podcast syndicated on iTunes, Google Play, and many other podcast platforms. People subscribe to your RSS feed when they align themselves with your podcasts on any of these platforms. The feed also provides your podcast information to the platforms where the podcasts are available. When you try to update your show’s title or description, you need to update the same in your RSS feed. A good compatible RSS helps your podcast overall and contributes towards it getting a better rank. Do you have that podcast voice? With Google’s NLP capabilities getting better at picking verbalized keywords and this makes having a loud and clear voice important in promoting your podcasts. As a podcast host, you need to cultivate a voice which allows Google to interpret as many keywords and phrases in a single conversation as possible. For those not used to speaking regularly in front of a mic, it definitely takes some practice to perfect the skill. But one golden rule in the effort to become a good podcast speaker is to speak from your heart and gut and not just using the vocal cords. And to make your voice have an extra impact, you need to have not only clarity but also a thorough grip on the subject you are speaking on. If you have a killer voice, getting a good podcast rank is not too difficult a mission. Back your podcast with a write-up:   Just like subtitles make the viewers’ screen experience that much easier, having a write-up for each podcast for the convenience of the listeners and clients is always a wise step to take. If your website hosts the podcast episodes that you are airing, it even makes a better sense. When the listeners have a text (in the form of a summary) of what they are hearing on air, they can have a fair knowledge about the episode which is coming up and are at a lesser risk to miss out on something. This way, your podcast can hit its target audience better and the more the penetration, the better is its chance of going up the listeners’ lists of favorites.
